Lip Service

I have been having Lipstick issues lately.  It seems that when I find one that I love (and actually looks good on me) they discontinue it!!   That just burns my biscuits.  So I spent what seemed like an eternity in Sephora trying to find a new hue.  3 different people tried to help me but I was being picky.  They were choosing colors they liked and not what looked good on ME.  As I looked down at my phone and saw the time,  I realized "Hey it's Lipstick- Pick one".  So I did- I went with Dior's  Beige Rita.

No No Not a bright Red - but a beautiful nude shade.

Sorry for the awkward close-up :o)

Oh the Joys of being a girl!

The goals of this award are1)As a dedication for those who love blogging and love to encourage friendships through blogging. 2)To seek the reasons why we all love blogging 3)Put the award in one post as soon as you receive it. 4)Don't forget to mention the person who gives you the award. 5)Answer the awards question by writing the reason why you love blogging. 6)Tag and distribute the award to as many people as you like. 7)Don't forget to notify the award receivers and put their links in your post.

Why do I love Blogging?
Well I love it because I can share special moments of my day with the people I love the most.  I may not always be able to sit across the dinner table from my family or pat a friend on the back when they have done a great job- BUT I can still feel connected to everyone through this blog.  I hope that they can feel that connection too! Thanks to all my dedicated readers :o)

Calling all Moms

I have not been feeling well since yesterday.  My head has been spinning like I am on a boat and I can't get off! I left work early and went home to  get some much needed rest.  As I was laying there face down in the pillow I realized no matter how old you get you just want your mom to be there to take care of you.  Since my mom is an hour away  (and really it wasn't like I was dying)  I had some temporary "moms" yesterday.  Dad talked to me on my drive home and even called later to check on me.  M did what guys do best and ordered my favorite greasy treat (BBQ Chicken pizza)  to cheer me up and kept my cup of Diet Coke and crushed ice full.  Otis  trotted over and gave me a couple of sniffs every once in awhile just to make sure I was hanging in there and of course Mom called and called to make sure I was doing ok.  Thanks to all my near and far moms yesterday :o) (Don't worry Mom- You're still #1)

The Hills are alive with the sound of Wedding Bells.

Is anyone else over The Hills?  I am a reality TV fanatic but please- Heidi and Spencer go away!  The new gossip is that Heidi and Spencer are getting married AGAIN.  Aggggh I don't even know why I am contributing to their Celebrity Status with this post.  Does anyone else feel this way?

A Very Good Thing.

Today is my Birthday! I am turning the big 24! This birthday has been a very special one to say the least. I celebrated with my family on Easter and last night M planned a surprise dinner for some of my friends at Merrick Inn (My Fav). Today we celebrated at work and I even received my new computer and printer in my office. I thought my day couldn't get any better - then I received an email telling me I had won a Martha Stewart contest!!! In six-eight weeks I will be receiving Martha's Wedding Cake Book in the mail! How wonderful!? Tonight we are heading to lake to celebrate a little more ( I really like to stretch my birthday out). I am sure I will have plenty of pictures on Monday! Have a GREAT weekend!

Use It and Lose It!

Anyone that knows me well, knows that I love my IPhone and all of the fantastic applications you can download. My latest fascination is the "Lose It" app. I downloaded it about a month ago and never really used it. Then, one day M was telling me about this great new app HE found and how it was so awesome. Well, (being the only child I am), I totally started using it and updating whenever he did.

The app is a weight loss/maintenance tool. It allows you to put in your current weight, goal weight and how many pounds you want to lose a week. It then gives you a calorie allotment and the rest is up to you. You enter in the food you eat into the Food Log and it keeps track of how many calories you have consumed, how many you have left for the day and also gives you nutrition facts. It has really made us aware of what and how much we eat. I give it 2 thumbs up.

So far I have lost 3.2 pounds with 5.8 pounds to go!

To get Lose It ... Go to your app store on your IPhone and search "lose it" - the best part? It's Free!

What a Weekend

I had one of the best weekends! I celebrated a birthday with friends, attended the Marker's Mark Tent Party, spent the day at Keeneland with my sweetie and celebrated Easter/my birthday with my family. I am so blessed and happy. I am thankful for all of the people in my life that continue to make each day better than the last. Here are some pictures from the weekend.

De-lish!

Well let me just tell you.... Paula Deen has done it again. I followed through and made my Kentucky Pie last night. It was amazing. I am sure it will become my signature potluck dish.

Since I was already at Target (Tar-Jay to my family) picking up my baking goodies, I was determined to find dinner there too. I decided on one of the Archer Farms penne pasta meals. It also turn out great (see below). After putting my pie in the oven I was just worn out so M, ( being the sweet thing he is) let me sit at the table and read while he prepared our delicious pasta.
After pie and pasta- my belly was full to say the least!

Paula Deen Y'all

Lately I have been itching to make something sweet. It seems that by the time I get to M's my motivation goes right out the window. I am just so tired and I don't want to miss a minute of our favorite TV shows (I know I'm lame). But tonight is the night!! I am going to make Paula Deen's Kentucky Pie! It seems pretty simple- here is the recipe.

Ingredients:
2 Large Eggs
1 Cup Sugar
6 ounces of Semisweet Choc Chips, melted
1/2 cup sifted self rising flour
1/2 cup butter (1 stick), melted
2 teaspoons vanilla extract ( I am going to go for 1/2 bourbon- 1/2 vanilla)
1 cup chopped pecans
1 (9 inch) deep dish unbaked pie shell

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350
Combine eggs, sugar and melted chocolate in large bowl. Add flour and mix well, stirring in remaining ingredients -expect for pie shell ;o)
Bake for 50-60 minutes

Serve warm with ice cream!

I'll let you all know how it turns out... Now what to fix for dinner? hmmmm
